I don't remember, did I do a write-up of the last game night? Well, I should have. It was a blast. I think we got the best turn-out ever, with a total of 12 people by the end. Only 2 (aside from me) who had ever attended a First Fridays Game night, and as a bonus [livejournal.com profile] ariock just happened to be there without even knowing it was a game night and joined us. We even had a really good male/female split again, which is always a good thing.

For those who don't know, I set up a Meet-up group for the Game Nights, wich is a great way to find out about our events and keep informed of the details. We even started doing themes, which seem to be working out. One of the new members suggested this next theme, which is Sci-Fi. I am still trying to figure out if there is a way to express the theme in snacks or drinks, although I might just stick to music for this theme.

So, what are you doing next Friday night? Well, if you have some time and want to join the fun, come on by to the First Friday Game night in north Oakland.

Game time!

Don't forget: First Friday Game Night again at It's Your Move Games in Oakland is this Friday!

If the Meet-up group is any indication, there will be some new blood there to mix things up. So, bring some snacks, or drinks, and any games you want to share, and join in for the July First Friday Game night!

I signed up at meetup.com the other day and created a group for the First Friday game nights. I am getting a decent amount of response already! Surprisingly more woman than men, which is interesting. I wonder what will happen for the events that I bill as a singles night....

I updated the application file for my birthday game (yes, it is a directory so you can choose how you want to view the PDF), in hopes that it is both easier to use, and more able to save the filled-out form. Remember, the form is due by April 15. Even though it is past April 1st, I would still like to know if you would like to play.

Oh, and for those that tried to fill it out before and had trouble, could someone check to see if this works better?

For those of you who have applied, thank you very much!!!

Meh! A bunch of the e-mail addresses that I sent the invitation for my scavenger hunt to bounced. Silverkun wanted a lit by April 1, and really, I have very few confirmations, and NONE from my latest mailing or posting, only people who are unable to attend replied so far.

Did I mention NONE is the number of confirmations I have received since I sent the last notice out?

Yeah, I am kind of discouraged here. Just a little.....

You see, although [livejournal.com profile] silverkun can whip up a bunch of players for the game if he needs them to fill out the ranks, they will be from his pool of people, and not necessarily people I know. Now, I don't mind there being people that I don't know in the game, but I would really like the majority to be people who are friends of mine since it is going to be in honor of my birthday.

So, perhaps I was unclear, and that is very likely since I was confused about what [livejournal.com profile] silverkun needed from me by April 1st, vs April 15th. Hopefully this will help clear things up:

If you can join me for the scavenger hunt that silverkun is putting on for me on May 19th, let me know here NOW. Yeah, now. Just a comment that you are in is all I need right now so you can be counted.

Please don't make me beg. My birthday sucked enough as it is last year, and I would rather break this string of sucky birthdays.

Again, meh!!!

Although it is not the 18th, I have already heard back regarding the application, and our team were offered the waiting list. In other words, we did not get into the No more Secrets game, which is not a huge surprise. I am not terribly disappointed though, because [livejournal.com profile] silverkun offered to run a scavenger hunt for my birthday if our team did not get accepted... and he plans to keep his word!

So... I need people who want to be part of a day long scavenger hunt. I will know more details about what kind once we hash out some of the details, but I am fairly certain it will not be as difficult a game as the No More Secrets game will probably turn out to be.

Unlike the 2-day NMS game, this will be all day long on Saturday, May 19th only. We will have teams of four people, but you need not sign-up as a team. I need to have a list of names by the end of this week to give to [livejournal.com profile] silverkun so that he can start planing.

I am going to ping (look for your LJ name below) those that I think would enjoy this kind of thing, but let me know if you are interested even if you are not on that list as I just threw it together quickly

Well, I am surprised and delighted that we have managed to collect a team for the game. I am going with a Mission: Impossible theme because I like the classics.

So far we have the following agents:

Me - The Conductor
[profile] silverkun
Aaron - The IT Guy
Eric - The Mad Scientist
[personal profile] aiglet

I need monikers, bios and photos from each agent, hopefully by tonight.

We need one more agent to be a full team. Anyone who has security or decoding experience a plus, but mostly someone who enjoys solving puzzles.

[profile] rightsock?
[profile] darkfuzzyheart?

[profile] philosophertone?

The Game...

My brother, who told me about the game I mentioned before sent me a link to a past game that he has played that posted all the clues and solutions afterwards. If this is any indication of what we are up against, I am scared. Wow that game would have been so way beyond me. So, with enough really smart people on the team, we might even enjoy ourselves, but I have no illusions of actually doing well.

So far I have the interest of [livejournal.com profile] silverkun. I have a couple of other people I think may be good who are not on LJ, but I need to ask them first. Is there anyone else out there who thinks this sounds like fun, and not just in a slapstick/this-is-really-a-bad-idea kind of way?

Part of the application process involves creating a team video, so we would need to get on this right away.

Other examples of past games like this can be found on the No More Secrets - About Us page.

This looks like way too much fun!

And the initial assignment is on the weekend of my birthday. So I will say it now, this is what I want to do to celebrate my birthday: a group of friends (me plus 5 others) who are good at games to create a team. We have to sign-up by March 10 so I need commitment real soon. My brother is doing this with some of his friends already.

There is no way I could do this by myself, and it takes some rather clever people to make a team, so the question is, are you up for the challenge?

Will you join me?

Hey [livejournal.com profile] silverkun, you are into alternate reality games, so this might be right up your ally.
