working from home
Dec. 8th, 2004 11:01 amThanks to the potential arrival today of a plumber to fix a persistent leak we have been battling for a while now (and hopefully he will also be able to figure out why the fire is not working and fix that too) I managed to actually have a good excuse to work from home.
Some of what I do can be done where ever there is a good computer with the right software, but much is better done from our office. I have talked with my boss about it, but she felt it was not something that either of us would be able to do effectively on any regular basis, but she seemed OK with me doing it today. It helps that all that I am working on today is coming up with some concepts for basic designs, which is easily done at home. In fact, I might be better able to concentrate here with fewer distractions, and feeling like people at work are looking over my shoulder at the process.
It is a treat to be working with a cat curled-up on my lap, and to be able to listen to my music without needing earplugs. Not to mention still being in my PJs with a warm robe and slippers.
As it turns out, and which actually makes my staying home for the plumber moot,
abditus decided to take the day off after eating too much Thai food and drinking too many Thai iced teas last night.
Now if the plumber would actually arrive, or even call to confirm his imminent arrival, we will not have to try to figure out how to do this tomorrow, which I think is pushing the delicate working-at-home envelope.
