ragani: (i am no man)

Some Mondays seem to find multiple ways to remind you that it is a Monday. This one seems to be one of those.

Getting ready for work, and my commute was fairly painless, although I cannot find my iPod, which is concerning. Oh, and, there was frost on my windshields when I got in it this morning. Frost! There are reasons I like living in the bay area, and not having to deal with frost often is one of them.

Once at work, things seemed to be going fine, until almost 10 AM, and the power suddenly went off. For the whole block! It turns out that the construction (better described as deconstruction) happening down the street cut a line while there were tearing up the street.

As you can imagine, that put a damper on most normal business activities. The phones followed shortly thereafter, and left us scrambling to find things to do that did not need either computers or phones to do. A conference call was being held at a desk in the front near a window with a cell phone in speaker phone mode, people who had desks close enough to windows were filing and cleaning desks, but mostly people seemed to mill about, just chatting, like sheep with no bellwether.

About an hour later the power returned, and I think some of us were almost sad to return to the daily grind.

The first thing I had wanted to do when the power returned was to put some files on a disk and have them picked up by a print vendor we use. I got these files ready and called the vendor to let them know they could come pick them up. The files, and all the appropriate paperwork were carefully stuffed into an envelope and put on the front desk in anticipation of the pick-up.

I went on to other projects and did not think about the pick-up until the office manager called me to say the guy was here to pick it up, but there was not envelope for him. Sure enough, there was no envelope, and I have a sinking suspicion that the mailman had picked it up instead. He agreed to wait while I threw together the minimum they would need to print my file as quickly as I could. He took that envelope and left. I noticed he had another envelope in his hands, but I figured it was another job he had picked up also.

A few minutes later another vendor came to pick-up a job my boss had called them about. Only, there was no envelope there! That was when I realized the other envelope the last vendor had was the one this vendor needed.

Sigh...

Fortunately, it was not a rush job, and my boss was able to have the first vendor send it back. And, the mailman just returned a few minutes ago with the first envelope I had put together.

On a brighter note, I am typing this using my brand new macally IceBlink keyboard. So far I like it, and do not seem to be having any problems with adjusting to the feel of the keyboard. My only complaint is that the last keyboard I used had a key for booting the computer that this one seems to lack.

On my honor as a (former) girl scout, I did not steal your ipod on Friday. You didn't leave it in my hands for an hour to even be tempted *smiles* And I like your new Avitars

You could not have taken the iPod. Not only did I not even bother to tempt you this time, but I have used it since seeing you. I know I used it on Saturday when driving to and from my Uncle's house in Santa Rosa, but I don't recall taking it into the house when we got home late that night. I only noticed this morning that it is not where I expected it to be, so I am hoping it has just been misplaced.

I got the Eowyn avatar from one of the icon communities. Since that is my favorite scene in the book, it seemed suitable.
