It must be a Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Although not as bad as I was on Monday or even Tuesday morning, I am not feeling as well as I did on Wednesday, when I decided I was well enough to return to work. Today I struggled with a scratchy sore throat, and that unpleasant feeling that it was not going to go away anytime soon. So, in an effort to ease the pain, I made myself a big cup of Throat Coat tea. The nice thing about Throat Coat is that is contains enough licorice that is has a sweetish taste and is enjoyable enough without adding any honey. That is a good thing, although I don't think it helped as much as I would hope when I spilled the tea all over my keyboard at work!
I acted as quickly as I could to mop up the liquid and turned the keyboard over to dump out what had seeped in, and at first, I thought all it needed was a little time to dry. Well, if time to dry is all it needs, maybe it will be working in the morning, but after turning off my computer, lots of patting dry on the outside, waiting a few minutes, followed by turning on my computer, and I was left with mouse only input.
Do you know how difficult it is to get work done when you cannot type anything into the computer? Let alone a blog post.
I found myself surfing for much of the last half hour of work today because I could do very little else. I ended up borrowing my boss's computer to find a replacement keyboard online and order it for 2-day delivery. Meanwhile, I need to bring my home keyboard in just in case my work one is still not working.
Since it was about the same price as all the other keyboards we looked at, I decided to get the icekey by macally. It is a sexy and sleek, and these reviewers seems to like it, but keyboards are such a personal thing, and I have never had a chance to use it in person. My boss was cool about saying that if I did not like it, I could send it back and get another one instead. Maybe I will see if I can find some keyboard demos to play with this weekend just in case.
I seem to have been having bad computer karma today. Earlier I tried to post a silly meme to LJ, and I kept getting error messages saying it could not connect. So, I did it again a couple of times and continued to get the same errors. A little while later I checked and sure enough, there was a post for every time I had tried.
Sigh...
