I was thinking of an idea today (prompted by an article I read in Prevention) where a group of people could support each other in the effort to exercise by creating a competitive pool. By that, I mean it would be like a betting pool that each member puts in a small amount of money, and the one who exercises the most that month gets to keep the pool amount to treat themselves to a spa visit or the like. I am not sure the best way to go about it, but it would need some way for each member to track how much they exercise, and compare the results at the end. Also, perhaps a Pay-Pal account to collect the funds for the pool. I figure think this would need at least 4 people to make it cost effective.

Has anyone done something like this before?
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to make this work?

I'm interested I think. I'm usually good for 3 days a week working out and some outside activity. But lately I've been slacking so this could help me get back on track. It also would help me push on the other cardio activity and make sure I do walks etc. instead of just helping people move in my free time and counting all those stairs as excercise. Let me know if you get enough interest

Yes, Please!

I would love to do this. I'm also working on selecting a new fitness goal for myself.

I've never done anything like this, although I have a work-out partner (whom I see little of during baseball season, and less of now-a-days because he has a girlfriend).

Suggestion on how to make this work: instead of rewarding the person who works out the most in a given amount of time, perhaps we can make it more goal oriented. For example, if my goal is to climb a mountain, and yours is to run a marathon, then the reward would go to whomever accomplishes their goal first. I'm still not sure about that idea, though. We're still on the drawing board. I'll think about this for a few days & get back to you.
