Community build

Thanks to
yeshivaboy for sending me this info. There is a community build happening up near Seattle that I would really like to attend the first wee in April. It is a volunteer opportunity with room and board mostly covered, so it would not cost me much to go. Since it is only a week, it should not impact my freelance work too much, although I will probably take a few more days on either end to drive there and back. I may even get to visit friends in the Seattle area, or along the way. Hmm....

Community Building Volunteer Work Week
April 3rd -8th 2006
Port Townsend, Washington
Summmerset Woods Community, a budding intentional community an hour outside of Seattle, seeks volunteers for help in trail making, tree planting, brush clearing, fort construction and general community building.
The first week of April we are offering room and board to volunteers willing to work a minimum of four (4) hours a day. The acre and a half site is located in beautiful Port Townsend, a historic seaport located between the Puget Sound, the Straight of Juan de Fuca, and the Olympic National Park. Port Townsend is a hub for alternative living; with intentional communities, organic farms, cooperatives, retreat centers, permaculture guilds, and populated with artist, authors, healers, boat builders, musicians, friends and families.
Offered
+ Two meals a day: breakfast and lunch, potluck dinner optional. Food is vegetarian, with vegan options, local and organic when possible.
+ A place to stay: a loft, a studio, a futon, a couch, a boat cabin, plenty of blow-up mattresses and camping sites galore.
+ Afternoon workshops: pruning, tree maintenance, permaculture design, manifestation tools, community nuts and bolts, yoga, and more on the way.
+ Entertainment: campfires, music making/listening, local pub outings, movies and videos watching, beaches walks, forest adventures, games to play and hot tub soaking.
Requested
+ Four hours of community labor a day doing clearing, planting, trail work, construction and/or food prep/cooking.
+ Willingness to participate, honestly and with a good attitude.
Come join us!
A great chance to work with the earth, make new friends, learn valuable skills, and creating connections. Transportation from and to the ferry and/or airport is available.
Families welcome!

I want to share my great news with you all. The December before last I was inspired at our permaculture design course about buying the land around my house in Port Townsend and starting an intentional community. With the information I learned in the course I realized that my dream of 20 acres was not only un unnecessary but a ton of land to work with. I realized how the woods around my house were quite well suited for growing and zoning. I came home with the idea of contacting my neighbors and seeing if they wanted to sell. A year later, just last month I closed on 1 1/2 acres of woods, 10 buildable parcels. The land is in the city limits of Port Townsend, WA. and has been my view and my sanctuary all this time.
With the purchase of the land two big development are underway.
First, the community has been christened Summerset Woods Community.
Second, we are having our first big event...yahoo!!! And you all are invited!
Below and attached is information about this springs Work Week.
Please read it over and pass it on to anyone or group you think might
be interested. Thanks
keep sharing the surplus,

The only conflict I see right now is that April 8th,
egonbrauer is planning to be in town, and I don't want to miss a chance to visit with him and his lovely fiance. Well, I will have to figure something out.
Oh yeah...
devonapple,
egonbrauer is coming to town the weekend of April 8th, and would live to get together with us, so let DW know, and mark your calendars.
