Well, burst my bubble
Nov. 5th, 2005 12:29 amI was talking to my mom tonight about Bayers Island, only to have her make a very valid point about raising water table and shrinking islands. Well, living on a island does pose some challenges, so I am willing to look into non-island property, although I would still like to be near water of some sort. A lake would actually satisfy both concerns, so, why not an island in a lake? So far, the only one I can find is one fondly called Big Island in Oswega River in up-state NY. Not nearly as big, but could work for a smaller community.
Sigh...
Still, another friend pointed out how much moving from California would be like cutting of a part of her body, and I have to agree, I do love this state. So, perhaps we start smaller, like Glen Oaks Ranch, which is 20 acres, but it has more restrictions than I want to deal with. Or this property, which already has the orchards C wants to have, and the barn DW would need. Also an option. 36 acres near Mt. Shasta, with a pond. Or, this one, which butts up to state land (and I like the name). For the more woodsy mountain retreat, this 440+/- acre property actually sounds great (where the deer and the antelope roam, even!).
Anyway, as you can see, I am trying to think "outside the island" idea, and focus on finding something achievable (I hope).
Again.
devonapple, please pass this info on to DW, and also to work-mate C.
