Passion revealed
Oct. 28th, 2005 07:41 pmWell, my friends seem to know me well enough to have no problem figuring out what it is that has been on my mind that has been a long time passion of mine. Of course, several who voted knew full well because I have already spoken with them about this recently. And,
ladydairine's silliness aside (yes, I love cheese and foreign films, but not with the same passion I have for the following), sustainable living, ecovillage, alternative energy are all things that have been on my mind much recently. In fact, cottage industry is also in there, tied in with the others, to some extent.
Why do I bring this up? Well, as some of you can probably guess, because I want to do something about this dream, and do something about it soon.
Over the past month or so I have been sent to temp several times at Arup in San Francisco. It turns out that they do a lot of sustainability design, and for some big clients too. One of the documents I have been working on is a Sustainability Accord for CalTech, which included a lot of interesting information on what other universities are doing to bring about more sustainable design. It also talks about what they call Drivers of Change, one of which is the resource depletion. On Tuesday, I got to sit in on a international teleconference presentation (from London) about resource depletion, which only fueled (pun intended) the recent rekindling of my interests in creating a more sustainable lifestyle.
So, expect to see more posts about this dream and passion, and requests to discuss how to make it real.
