Oct. 10th, 2005 07:32 pmI have had a sore throat since Thursday, and aside from some headaches in the beginning, there have not been any other symptoms. Nothing I have done to make it get better seem to have helped much. So, today I went into the clinic to get it checked, and although the Dr seemed to think it looked like a viral infection, he had me checked for strep. Well, when he came back after the test results were in he said it was a good thing we checked, because I do indeed have strep.
He gave me a scrip for antibiotics (happily it is the easier to take Z-pack) and assures me that will take care of it quickly. This is actually a relief since if it had been a viral infection, I was expecting it to take a lot longer to get over because there is little they can do, and I had already done what I could to heal from something viral with little effect.
Now, when I first started having these symptoms, I was not the only one in the house feeling lousy. I suspected that what ever I had might be from one or both of the boys, who seemed to be suffering from something. Housemate O took T to the Dr and was told (without testing) that it did not look like strep. Now, however, with my results, she is going to have to take him in again to make sure. Sigh...
At least I am already starting to feel a little better, and look to continue to do so now that I am getting the prescribed treatment. As much as I hate taking antibiotics too often, it has been a while since I have needed them, and this is the kind of thing they are good for.
