What a long day! Overall I feel the move went well. It was not stressful and I had competent help from people I trusted to do a good job. I also got to play an important role (I drove the big truck up the big hill - twice!).

Got up this morning early and went to get the truck around 9:30. Returned to my place to load what was ready: the large furniture and many packed boxes. I had the help of R, [livejournal.com profile] rogue_ravnos, [livejournal.com profile] archangelkhaos, [livejournal.com profile] tshuma and [livejournal.com profile] bk2w (thanks to all of you!), so we managed to get my stuff up to the new place and unloaded by 3ish. I ordered Zachery's pizza for late lunch, and went to pick that up while the guys (including R's friend P) and friend TC loaded-up O&R's stuff. Once their kids boys were up at grandma's house for the afternoon, and lunch was consumed, we made good time, and had most of the truck unloaded at the new place by 7, while the guys put the kid's bunk-bed together. We even, with some research by rogue_ravnos and myself, found a decent Chinese place that delivers. The pot-stickers were some of the best I had ever had!

I am back at the old place chilling out. One of the things I deliberately did not move was the bed since the mattress deflates and can be moved in my car, and since the couch is gone, that is where I type this now.

Unfortunately, my ankle, which I sprained about a year ago, is tweaked. It is swollen and sore, even though I wore the sneakers with the fancy inserts my physical therapist had me get.

I am supposed to have the yard sale tomorrow (must go list on craigslist next) but it looks like I will be doing most of it alone. Since they helped me today, [livejournal.com profile] rogue_ravnos and [livejournal.com profile] archangelkhaos need to borrow my car to move their stuff tomorrow. They might be able to help a little with the set-up (I have not asked them yet) but I know they need to load their stuff into my car and another friend's pick-up truck in the late morning, so I am not sure how much they will be able to help.

At the moment, [livejournal.com profile] abditus is over at his new place nesting, no doubt. He has been taking small loads over in his car all week and should only need to rent a small truck to move the big stuff (dresser, entertainment unit, futon), his electronics, clothes in the built-ins and closets, whatever boxes are left, and the cats. He has also, true to form, been shopping for all the things he needed, and just taking his purchases straight to his new place. He has plenty of stuff that is going in the yard sale, and has scheduled his truck rental for Sunday, but he has not communicated to me if he is planning to be here Saturday to take part. At this point, especially with my ankle acting up, I think it is a must, as I will not be able to do much lifting alone, let alone at all.

What is left to do: sorting the remaining stuff, especially in the garage, have the Yard Sale(!), packing and move the food (Sunday), pack and move what is going to the new place (clothes in closets, bed, night-stand, rugs, laundry supplies), clean rug in livingroom, take whatever books do not sell in yard sale to half-price books, and clothes and dishes to charity.... I am sure there is more stuff I cannot remember right now.

At least the weather looks good for a yard sale.
