1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?
As long as I don't have to spend the time shoveling snow, or digging out the car, but inside snuggled up in front of a fire with a warm drink reading or hanging out with family (or friends).

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?
My father's family has been my choice for who to spend the holidays with, so what ever the plans are for them are cool with me. That has included tropical vacations to snow covered cabins, so what is more important to me is that it includes the family relaxing together, and a big meal that we have all pitched in to make.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?
Traditions are one of the reasons I so enjoy the holidays with my family. Grandpa is the instigator for most of them, but he gets the rest of the family involved as well. Some include:
• Crab legs and cheese fondue for Christmas Eve dinner (when in California)
• Taking turns reading a selection of holiday classics (favorite parts from Dickens A Christmas Carol to A Child's Christmas in Whales) as well as newer favorites (Calvin and Hobbs strips to having the grandkids play out a very sarcastically brutal editorial rewrite of the Rudolf story).
• Challenging each other to eat the "traditional" breakfast of egg nogg and Grape Nuts (but making sure to save room for the real breakfast of eggs benedict and pecan rolls)

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?
Sometimes our whole family "adopts" a needy family to give gifts to. This year, our office manager is collecting clothes, books and toys for A Safe Place, a shelter for battered woman and children. I think it is a great chance for me to continue with the next step of my Big Purge and donate some of the clothes left over from the yard sale I had last month.

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?
Sure, I have a list of gifts, but this is the most difficult of the five to answer. For one thing, I would like for all my friends, family and self to be financially stable, which is one of the things that has been a source of sadness lately. I don't have a major gift in mind that would just make my holiday, so to speak, but there are lots of things I would not mind owning, which conflicts some with my recent campaign to reduce too much stuff in my life.
