Light up your life
Dec. 10th, 2004 12:06 pmPublic service announcement...
PG&E's East Bay Energy Partners and both Oakland and Berkeley cities public works agencies are all working to reduce your holiday energy costs by offering to take your standard holiday string lights (aka: Christmas lights) in trade for brand new LED string lights (up to 5 per household). Not only are LEDs more energy efficient (consuming up to 90% less than traditional lights) but they are more durable, last longer and produce almost no heat.
Anyway, I thought I would share this program info. The Oakland Public Works Agency site has a link to a PDF you can download with more information, including where they are doing this exchange. Locations for these exchanges include Longs Drug stores, Lowe's, Target, selected hardware stores and on-line companies (I could not find a listing of which ones though), as well as various Farmer's Markets from now till December 12th.
