Just got back from taking housemate R and the two boys down to Jack London Square to visit [livejournal.com profile] musique174 and explore The Lady Washington. We were blessed with sunny, brisk weather, which was perfect for such a trip and found [livejournal.com profile] musique174 greeting people as we stepped onto the dock, who was delighted to see us.

The boys seemed to find the ship interesting and were happy to explore as much as they were allowed to. I prompted them to ask question of the crew who were happy to explain the workings and history of the ship. Housemate R was most interested in the live black-powder cannons mounted on the aft, although he did not think he would ever have sea legs enough to be able to work on a ship like her. T was subdued, probably because he was feeling a little under the weather, but seemed most interested in the crows nest (picture behind the cut). I got a darling photo of him looking up that I wish I had not been so close for, but that shows him looking up at all the ropes, crows nest and flags.

Just as we were leaving, [livejournal.com profile] mercator_7 showed up to get his ship fix, which was nice timing all around.

Oh, also, [livejournal.com profile] musique174 asked if we knew anyone who would be interested in crewing as the cook on one of the ships. I am going to let my brian sit on that one for a bit, but housemate R suggested someone from the Lark Camp crowd. Has possibilities, that is for sure.

In other small world news, [livejournal.com profile] archangelkhaos and [livejournal.com profile] rogue_ravnos came over yesterday to hang out, which was a fun diversion. We trolled around Berkeley in the rain running errands, getting [livejournal.com profile] rogue_ravnos and I some items at Sari Palace (she got shinny velvet robes and I got a new outfit for when I am doing henna at faire) and [livejournal.com profile] archangelkhaos black fatigues to replace his old washed-out gray ones at the army-navy surplus store.

We had a lovely lunch at The Pyramid Brewery cafe, where the food was good and the company better. This is where we discovered yet again that the world is even smaller when [livejournal.com profile] archangelkhaos asked me if there was a chance I might know his latest massage client. Well, as it turns out, I do indeed know [livejournal.com profile] inside_edge, very well in fact! Since they had been comparing known friends, but had yet to come to the connection to me, [livejournal.com profile] archangelkhaos is betting this one will surly break [livejournal.com profile] inside_edge. I am amused, and I know [livejournal.com profile] inside_edge will be also.

The list of friends I have lived with is, in fact, fairly long, when I think about it.
