My grandparents are moving. I am saddened by this, but it was expected. They are not going farther away, just to a smaller place. This means they are trimming their belongings by passing things along to the rest of the family. I am getting the game table (my dad's idea) which is a small four person table and matching chairs perfect for playing card games, Scrabble and other games of that size or smaller.
Grandma sent me an e-mail earlier this week saying I could come pick the table up any time now. They need to be out of their house by September 30th, and I suspect they want us to come get our items well before then so they can pack (my grandma is very efficient, but they still have a lot to pack). I told her I would try to come by this Sunday to get the table, but that all depends on if I can get a big enough vehicle to move it. I would rather not have to rent a truck, so I thought I would ask around first.
Usually, my station wagon is big enough to haul most things I need to haul. With the back seat down I can fit a lot in the back. It turns out that the table does not break down (the legs are not easily removed according to my grandma) so it is not likely to fit in my station wagon after all. I can probably fit a couple of chairs, perhaps even all four, but not the table.
Does anyone have a truck big enough for a small table and some chairs that can help me move it from Los Altos to Richmond on Sunday? A meal will no doubt be included on one end or another, and if you ever wanted to meet my grandfather, this would be a good opportunity.
