3 interviews and a placement
Aug. 20th, 2005 02:27 pmLast week I went on my first real interview (not just a phone interview), which was great practice. It was for a position that, although I could probably do well enough at it eventually, it involved a lot less of what I enjoy, and almost entirely what I don't. On top of that, although other benefits were great, the salary and vacation package sucked ass. The interview experience was still a good one and left me feeling ready to others.
This past week, I went on two interviews which were both at placement agencies. They both went well also, and one even set me up with a placement before the interview was over! The placement is only for 3 days of production work, which is not something I want to do for long term, but in the short term, it is just fine with me.
One of the things I am appreciating about this job search is that I feel that with enough freelance work I can take my time to find something that is a good match, which means that, meanwhile, I get to enjoy a much more flexible schedule.
Financially, I am feeling strapped at the moment, and getting through until I get paid for those three days next week will be a challenge. I will not be getting any more unemployment $ until I have a phone interview on Monday with the EDD, probably so they can check on my job search progress. Rent is taken care of by dipping into my long term savings (which sucks, but helps keep the pressure off), however, all the other expenses are looking scary.
