Insecurity
Apr. 18th, 2005 05:20 pmThis weekend there was a rash of car vandalism in our neighborhood. One of R's windows was broken on his car. Our neighbors had their car broken into, and we have heard of other similar incidents. I don't know about the neighbor, but nothing was stolen from R's car, even though he had a drill in the back that was clearly visible. This same kind of damage was done to my car one evening when I used to live in El Cerrito, not far from a BART station, and again, they did not take anything (the window breaking armed my alarm, and since I was home, I went to inspect why the alarm was armed). I even had my license plate stolen at that same place (not to mention the apartment burglary).
We are all rather irritated and worried about this turn of events. O&R were already having issues with R's car needing to be re-registered after a salvage title because of the airbag being deployed in an otherwise minor accident. Now they have the added burden of the window needing to be replaced.
We all figured we were in a safer neighborhood than before since we are up in the hills, and off the beaten path. Apparently that is not the case.
