raganiThe movers never showed up. I called the guy who was my contact and he knew nothing about why, and had just assumed they had arrived already. He is calling them now to find out what it up, but since it is dark, I am done with moving for the day. Having Friday off helps a lot since I just asked if they could come then instead. In fact I might see if I can take Monday as a floating holiday for some of the clean-up effort.
Strangely I am not angry or even too upset about this whole thing, as long as it gets taken care of by the end of this week. It actually makes life a bit more comfortable to still have my couch, dresser and vanity in place this week, and it might mean I have acquired a bed frame that I like by then. I had hoped to have moved before returning to work, but a three-day weekend is still not too bad.
Meanwhile, I have the following things that are available for purchase or just the taking:
Computer desk with all the trimmings. I lowered the prince because I was not getting any bites on craigslist. I am willing to consider a lower price for friends, as long as it is taken by the end of the month.
Papasan chair - fabric on the cushion is a loud floral print, but I made a cover in a more neutral tan and cream (which means you can wash it too!). I would appreciate some money for this, but not much (name a price).
A small desk suitable for a short person or child. A large solid wood desk that needs a new track on one drawer.
An entertainment unit that fits a fairly large TV (I can measure if needed) and even has room for vinyl records (which is why I got this one in the first place). Some $ would be nice, but again, name a price as I am not asking much and would rather it go to a friend in need of such a unit.
My large green canvas tent that has, in the past, been the Criers hooch. It is well loved, but still serviceable. Tall enough to stand in, and sleeps 4 easily, more if you are real friendly.
More clothes! I just culled some more sweaters today even, as well as added some vintage gloves (for fairly small hands - good for LARPIng and other vintage costume uses). Also, the holiday plaid (skirt) and black velvet (bodice) ball gown needs a good owner who will actually take it out to dance more often than I do (it is about my size, but does not handle a chest that is much larger than mine, as one friend discovered).
Lots of books! Mostly sci-fi paperbacks, but others as well.
Please let me know if you think you might be interested in any of these items. I am sure there is more I am not thinking of right now, but I am too tired to remember. Any that are not spoken for before the yard sale on Saturday will be up for sale then.
