5 Blonds are better than one
Feb. 24th, 2005 11:45 pmWe had our largest gathering of our blonds guild so far. In a coordinated effort, we logged-on, met-up in Goldshire and changed into our matching blue shirts (courtesy of Muffy - blue goes so well with our eyes) and out of all the heavy armor. We decided to keep our sexy thigh-high boots on, although they did not match (despite appearances, we are individuals, really). In attendance were Muffy (
archanglekhaos), Phiphi (
abditus), Prissy (myself), Razzi (
emberleo's sister), and Wendi (sister's boyfriend).
We started out sitting in a row of chairs, but due to a Warlock that was AFK and her Imp, we could not find a good angle to get a clear shot. So we moved to a smaller circle of chairs, and were much happier with the results. By that time, we had already collected some gawkers, and even a groupie.
The groupie, a male human who flirted with us shamelessly the whole time was delighted when we decided to liven things up by dancing on the bar. He says he got some great screen shots himself, and even asked for one of us (Razzi) for an email address. She laughed and told him that although some of us were really girls, the rest were guys and some even the boyfriends of said girls. He laughed, and bemoaned that it was too bad Paladins were so chaste (Prissy is a Paladin).
I especially like the backside shot I got of us all doing the macarena. It makes us look like we practiced a routine for this whole charade.
During all of this, there was a Hoard Raid that actually ran through the Inn at some point. Yet, we still managed to get a rather large crowd not only watching us, but dancing with us. I know people complain that most of the female WoW races dance like pole dancers, but I must point out that both human and elf males sure look like they are auditioning as a Chippendale dancer!
The gallery of shots I took can be viewed here.
I think some of the reasons that I am enjoying this blonds guild thing so much is that this is just a game, and I can flirt shamelessly, be sexy, and get the attention resulting in just being an attractive blond chick, all of which I would not do as much normally in real life. The funny thing is, there is no good reason why I should not do that stuff in real life anyway. I mean really, I am an attractive blond chick, and I do enjoy being sexy and flirty, when I do allow myself to do so.
So what is the problem? I have this belief that it would be manipulative to do so, and therefor is wrong. Also, it feels to me like it would be buying into (or, abusing) the whole "dumb blond" image that I abhors so much. Then, there is also the "exploitation" issue that is associated woman as sex symbols, but that is not as big a part of my personal issue because I am not worried that I will be exploited if I am choosing to be sexy for my own reasons.
It is a belief, however, that for many reason, I really want to rewrite (even though I still am not a fan of the dumb blond stereotype). So, I am taking baby steps by giving myself permission to "get away with it" in game, guilt-free. I hope that it will seep into real life, because I could use more of that kind of energy.
Doing this with 4 other "blonds" (I am the only RL blond of the bunch) has the added benefit of feeling like we "belong" to something. Hey, haven't you ever wondered what it would be like to be part of a twin, triplet or more? And attractive ones at that!
Wheee! *giggle*
