I hardly got anything productive done at work today. It was one of those days when most people here were not very focused because thier minds were already on the weekend. I guess the same could be said of my state of mind, which is typical before a busy weeeknd. I am both looking forward to and dreading my weekend plans.
My plans this weekend certainly qualify as busy, as I am probably going to be juggling too many things. Saturday starts out with raiding my garb collection and pairing it down to a manageable amount. This includes all my ball gowns and some of my faire garb.
Over the years, since getting involved in events like Victorian ballroom dancing and Ren Faire, I have amassed a large enough collection of clothes that I mainly kept as loaners for friends who "just don't have anything to wear" and as potential future projects to make that perfect dress. After two moves in less than a year, and the potential for another looming, it is time for most of them to go.
I should still have enough items left from the great garb cull to have something to wear to the Halloween Gaskell Ball, but we will see if I will even have enough energy!
Sunday brings the same, but with the rest of my over stuffed closet. Fortunately, I have friends helping on either day who can give me some friendly what not to wear advice. And, lucky them, they get first dibs on the cast-offs. Sure, they could tell me it looks terrible on me just because they want it, but not only do I trust my friends to be honest with me, I made sure to have more than one friend there to get more than one opinion.
