Um... have you read the preceeding 3-4 week storyline? 'Cause if not, it wouldn't make a ton a sense. Basically the girl in the early panels is the guy's girlfriend that he loves very much. She is moving away, with his blessing, to chase a dream job. He's lonely and distraught. His kitty comforts him, and then his two best friends come to visit and just touch him while he sleeps off the depression.
