Yeah, I doubt there is much historical value to Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and I fully expect to role my eyes through out the movie at much of the cheese.

However, I think this review has summed up why I want to see it:

The popularity of royal costume drama has given rise to a subgenre: textile porn.
