What I learned at BayCon 07

Much of this weekend was spent in helping [profile] psyche7772 move out, and into her cute new place with [profile] mercator_7, but some non-move stuff was fit in as a sanity check. Most notably is my afternoon/evening at BayCon on Saturday, at the request of [profile] inside_edge to help with his costume.

While at BayCon I learned a few things:

1. Putting my hair in pigtails is a cute option that would never had occurred to me had [profile] kalendargirl not been trying to find a quick solution to what to do with my hair for a steam punk theme outfit (I looked very Tank Girl, although I don't think anyone took photos to prove this)

2. Not only does [profile] warriorfoo have cool taste in shoes (not a surprise), but our feet are very close in size, which allowed me to acquire a pair of her swap meet shoes that went great with my outfit

 3. The location of BayCon this year was less than optimal, and left me feeling disappointed in the con overall

4. My infamous long velvet coat is brown enough for me to be considered a Browncoat by many who saw me wearing it, so now I know what I can wear to the next Browncoat event

5. Warp Core Coolant is too sweet and not very strong, at least the way the Klingons make it

6. Oh, and  [profile] paulwheeler makes a great mad scientist (but this does not surprise me in the least)

There are many other little things that I noticed while there, but I will end with this personal observation that short hair (but not too short) looks surprisingly good on [personal profile] onyxdubh, and I bet he has to keep a long stick handy to keep from being hit on too often.

What I learned at con.... (sounds like a grade-school paper).

Anyhow. You are awesome.
Yeah, that's about it.

Haha!

Thanks, hon! I am sure there were plenty of things to learn at BayCon for you as well. Glad I could be one of them. It was fun hanging out together.

"3. The location of BayCon this year was less than optimal, and left me feeling disappointed in the con overall"

The Winchester Mystery Hotel part or the San Mateo (2.3 miles from my place) part?

Hmm.... 2.3 miles from you does not equal a bad thing, especially for you (although I did not see you there!). Really, the Winchester Mystery Hotel part was primarily the issue. It did not feel big enough for BayCon, and I guess the years at the Red Lion (etc.) has spoiled us. I hope it finds a bigger more suitable home soon.

Oh it has. The Marriott was never intended to be anything but temporary. There should be an announcement soon, about the new location.

It's really nice!!!

I was there Sunday variously dressed as Rose and myself. There was a problem with getting the Doubletree for this year, and I hear rumors that henceforth it will be someplace like The San Jose Convention Center. I guess we'll see.
