A medical diagnosis of Sméagol/Gollum was published in the British Medical Journal.

There are some inaccuracies I noticed, many of which have been mentioned in the comments made after the diagnosis. The main ones that jumped out at me are his race, his age (especially when he met Bilbo Baggins) and the influences of the One Ring not being taken into account.
