Meat your Maker

I keep reading about The Makers Diet, and am intrigued. Religious overtones aside, it seems like a fairly sound diet from what I can tell. I asked my mom about it, and she told me she has read the book, then she sent it to her (very religious) sister Linda. My mom can get zealous about some health stuff, but her perspective on a healthy diet is founded on many years of experience, so I feel she usually knows what she is talking about. She is allergic to dairy, so could not follow this herself as outlined, but says this diet seems pretty good.

One of the things I like about it is the abundance of foods I like and will enjoy eating. I strongly believe the most successful diet is one which will be followed. I hated Weight Watchers when I tried it, but understand that it has worked for several of my friends. A couple of years ago [livejournal.com profile] abditus and I were following a diet which worked well for us, and made a lot of sense. The Makers Diet could actually work within the structure of that diet well, and seems founded on solid nutritional ground.

Anybody have any experience with this diet or have any thoughts about it you want to share?
