I know that in the long run, any work I do on improving myself is not lost or a waste of time, even if the motivation for the change does not seem to feel the improvements are not enough to change the situation. I am so sick of feeling like all the work I have done amounts to nothing, especially when I feel like I am the one doing all the work!
Have some faith already!!! And while you are at it, get off your ass and make more then just a minimal effort. Instead of just waiting for things to fix themselves, take an interest. You might be surprised at the results.
To quote a recent entry on a friend's blog:
"Please forgive the construction... we are still in business"
...or, as I keep trying to remind myself:
conflict is actually growth trying to happen
